What We Do Best
Naturopathic Medicine integrates standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural treatments to help you reach your specific health goals
Our Standard Medical Diagnostics Tools
Naturopathic Doctors are legally authorized to provide a medical diagnosis in Ontario. In order to acheive this, licensed Naturopaths undergo a minimum of 7 years of post-secondary education, including 4 years of Naturopathic medical training. Naturopaths are trained to: perform physical examinations (including gynecological exams, well child checks, etc.); order laboratory tests (including food allergy testing, routine bloodwork, urine analysis, etc.); and intepret lab and imaging results.
Our Broad Range of Natural Treatments
Naturopathic Doctors use a wide range of natural treatments that allow ND’s to develop treatment plans that address not only the physical aspect of a person, but also the mental and emotional aspects. The naturopathic therapies are all based on the same principles – they all assist the body’s healing response, and they are often more effective when combined. Therapies provided at the Markham Village Naturopathic Clinic include: nutrition, botanical/herbal medicine, acupuncture, natural health products, homeopathy, and lifestyle counselling.
Naturopathic Doctors aim to identify and treat the underlying cause of a symptom or disease. Instead of simply applying a “natural bandaid” to ease a symptom, naturopaths ask the question “why” and address the problem at the root. You can expect to spend more time with your naturopath, as your ND will assess the function of your whole body to determine how symptoms may be connected or one body system may be affecting another. The role of the ND is to help you return your whole body to balance and optimal function. This method of addressing health provides a long-lasting resolution to health complaints and enables an individual to achieve optimal health and wellness.
